We’re excited to announce the latest updates for March 2025, which include the release of one of the most highly requested features—Custom Fields across all modules—alongside enhanced document management, UI improvements, and more control through the user access matrix.
🎉 New Features
1. We’re excited to officially launch Custom Fields, one of the biggest upgrades to oboloo to date.
You can now create unlimited custom fields across all modules — Supplier Management, Contract Management, Sourcing, and Savings — giving you full control to tailor oboloo to your unique workflows and reporting needs.
Why this is a big deal:
- Unlimited Flexibility: Add custom fields to any record in oboloo to capture data specific to your organization — whether it’s an internal supplier reference, a contract approval status, or a sourcing KPI.
- Total Control: Choose the module and exact section where the field appears, define its data type (text, number, boolean, date), and decide if it should be active immediately.
- Editable Labels: While field structure is locked after creation, users can always rename the field for clarity.
- Seamless Reporting & API Integration: All custom field data is available in exports, table views, filters, and via the oboloo API. That means you can integrate with ERPs, finance tools, invoice management systems, or any other third-party platform.
- Visibility Controls: Easily enable or disable custom fields at any time, without losing the data associated with them. Disabled fields won’t appear in record views but will remain available for reactivation.
- Granular Management: From the new “Manage Custom Fields” settings page, admins can view where each field is being used and filter between active or inactive fields.
Whether you're tracking supplier certifications, managing invoice references, monitoring savings KPIs, or applying unique contract metadata, custom fields bring you closer to full platform personalization.
2. Interactive User Onboarding Journey & Redesigned Home Page
New users will now see an updated home dashboard with clearer "next best actions" and setup checklists by module. This guides users step-by-step through setup and introduces key features to accelerate value from day one.
3. User Access Matrix Extended
We’ve added two new permissions to the user access matrix:
- API Authentication (Read only): Unlocks access to the API key management page under settings.
- Custom Fields (Read, Edit, Create): Controls access to the new custom fields management interface.
4. New Supplier Contact Creation in eSourcing Wizard
Users can now create a supplier contact directly from the eSourcing wizard without leaving the flow. Just click + New Supplier Contact from the dropdown, enter the contact details, and it’s ready to use immediately.
5. Request Multiple Contract Documents
You can now request multiple documents from suppliers under each contract record. This mirrors functionality already available in Supplier Management and streamlines the document collection process.
6. Cancel Document Requests Under Contracts
Users can now cancel pending document requests from the Documents tab within a contract record, just like in Supplier Management.
🏆 Improvements
- Supplier Management Filter Consistency: The filter boxes below dashboard metrics now match the sizing and styling of other filters across the platform.
- Custom Fields Table Filtering: The custom fields management table now includes a toggle to switch between enabled and disabled fields.
- UI/UX Enhancements Across Modules: Continued UI upgrades are rolling out across oboloo to simplify workflows, improve usability, and enhance system performance.
🐞 Bug Fixes
- N/A for March – this update was primarily focused on feature enhancements and infrastructure expansion.
🔮 Coming Soon – April & Beyond
- Supplier Scorecard Redesign: Big updates are coming to improve how scorecards are created, sent to suppliers, and scored internally.
- Major UI Refreshes: More interface updates across all modules, including smoother flows and a more modern look and feel.
- oboloo Free Plan: We’ll soon be introducing a free version of oboloo for small teams or those wanting to explore our core functionality. It’s a great way to experience oboloo at no cost.
